Jersey County Sheriff and Jail
Jersey County Sheriff’s Office and Jail
114 North Washington Street
Jerseyville, Illinois 62052
618-498-6881
The sheriff page says the office is open 24 hours. No separate public records line or current sheriff FOIA form was located. The county contact page directs FOIA requests to the State’s Attorney’s Office. Confirm the current custodian by phone.
The sheriff page describes an “Inmate Roster & Census Search,” but its linked old endpoint was not a working county results screen when checked. Ask whether the person is booked, in custody, released, transferred, or held for another jurisdiction. VINE may help with covered custody and release notices.

Which Office Should Receive the Question?
- Current county custody or a county booking event: Jersey County Sheriff and Jail.
- Jerseyville, Brighton, or Grafton incident report: the city police or clerk, with the correct county side identified.
- Filed charge, hearing, or disposition: the appropriate Circuit Clerk and court search.
- Sentenced state record: IDOC. Federal or immigration custody: BOP or ICE.
- Missing or withheld booking record: confirm the FOIA custodian, make a narrow written request, and ask for the legal basis for a denial.
Charges at booking are accusations. The office that created a record can explain its status, but only the court can supply the final disposition. Keep the date and source with any result.
